FAQs
Tell me about…
Airfare – Airfare to Thailand is not included in our package fee. However, Thailand is a premier world destination so it is always possible to find very economical tickets from your home country. We can also help you to book flights at good rates once we have secured your placement.
Arrival in Thailand - Airport pick up service is provided free of charge upon your arrival in Thailand. A representative from either the school or our agency will be there to meet you and take you to your assigned town or city.
Accommodation – The school office staff will help you to find convenient accommodation close to your school. Housing in Thailand is cheap, clean and comfortable. Prices start from around THB2,000 monthly. You can expect to pay between THB3,000 to THB4,000 for a furnished studio in a well maintained, modern residential building.
Costs – Living costs in Thailand are very low compared to in the west. Street food is delicious and filling with a bowl of noodles costing around 20 Baht. Fruit and vegetables are plentiful, fresh and cheap. A mid-range meal costs around 70 Baht per dish. Transportation is also very economical with a 2 hour bus journey costing around 120 Baht. Beach accommodation starts at around THB200 per night.
Setting up a bank account – Your school will help you to set up a local bank account as soon as you arrive in Thailand. Your salary will be paid into this account. Wiring money from Thailand back to your home country is also quick and convenient and can be done from any high street bank.
Travel insurance – Travel insurance is not mandatory for Thailand and not usually necessary. For extra peace of mind about a suitcase going missing or your flight being delayed, it can be worth ordering some insurance before you go.
Safety – Thais by nature are a very laid-back and welcoming people. You will find yourself amazed at the generosity of spirit, warmth and hospitality extended to the visitor by the Thai people. Crimes against foreigners are rare and it is safe to walk the streets alone at night although common sense applies in dark, unlit areas as it does in any country.
Vacation time – Thai schools have two main vacation periods, late February to early May (summer vacation) and the month of October (winter vacation). In most cases the March, April vacations are not paid but October usually is. It is also easy to find work at summer camps for these months once in Thailand.
Food – One of the best reasons to visit Thailand is for its mouthwatering cuisine. Thai food is spicy, sour, light, tangy and spicy! If red chili isn’t your scene, try one of the mild coconut curries or zesty mango salads instead.
Clothes - Teachers in Thailand are required to wear smart work attire meaning shirt, tie and trousers for the guys and blouse and skirt for the girls. Once out of work, flip-flops, shorts and T-shirts are the order of the day!
Shopping – There are quite literally millions of shopping possibilities in Thailand catering to every type of budget. From night markets selling quirky T-shirts for less than the price of a bottle of water back home to palatial shopping malls touting the latest Armani collection, shopping in Thailand is unlimited!
Health care in Thailand – In Bangkok excellent, in the provincial capitals very good, from the rural areas it’s probably best to head to a provincial capital to get the best treatment. Most doctors speak English and pharmacies are plentiful even throughout the smaller towns and cities.
Weather – Thailand enjoys a hot tropical climate with the rainy season running from May to October. March, April and May are the hottest months of the year and ideal for beachcombing.

Mosquitoes – Less of a problem than one might think. Fortunately, malaria is extremely rare in Thailand. Bangkok is relatively mosquito free while a good dose of repellant usually does the trick on the beaches.
