Planning for the future and teaching English online or abroad

Getting through Covid19 and looking to the future

This is an uncertain time and we fully understand this. We’re working with all of our teachers and schools to ensure we’re able to return to full normality after all this is over.

So, what can be done right now? Loads in fact! Working on your applications now, means you’ll be in the perfect position to apply and set off on your adventure once the current situation is behind us all.

So, in the meantime here are some tips and tricks to help you achieve the best you can from our free service now ready for the future.

  • Plan your goals. Is there a particular country you will want to work in? What age group would you like to teach?

  • Get a head start! Take a look at our current TEFL jobs and see the roles we’ve been advertising; it specifies requirements, benefits and everything else included, so this will give you a starting chance to see what you want to achieve NOW ready for when schools start recruiting again

  • Ask, ask and ask some more. If you have a question, we’re here, we’re working and we want to help and support you every step of the way. If you want to know which job is best suited for you, we can have a chat and let you know how to get started

  • Use the time. Unfortunately, lockdown is tough for everyone but it’s also a great time to get to work. You may end up finishing your TEFL / TESOL course quicker than originally anticipated which means as soon as things are ready to go, you can get applying

  • Research. We provide a vast amount of resources and tools to help you through your job applications, but this is also a great time to (virtually) ask your teacher friends for advice, to brush up on techniques and skills and to do your own research on your destination of choice

  • Stuck at home with family members? Create your own practice classroom? Set them some tasks and try a spot of role play. It’s a great way to use your new skills and put them into action for the real deal. (We’re afraid you can’t give your parents/brothers/sisters detention though… or can you?)

ESLstarter are an award winning job placement agency with over 13 years of experience in the TEFL / TESOL industry. We know our stuff and we’re determined to get you to your dream teaching destination in hopefully the not too distant future.

Interested? Let’s start the ball rolling.

See what teaching jobs abroad you can apply for today, stay safe and we'll get through this together!
